The Neoregelia cultivar was my first bromeliad, purchased via the internet in August 2006. It arrived as a single plant already potted. It has since produced two pups, which are approaching the size of the parent. I have noticed over the winter months that the purple has tones of the foliage have been fading, giving way to almost exclusively green foliage, I assume due to reduced light levels. I may experiment with introducing more artificial light at some point. Like many of my plants it also collected a lot of calcium build up on the leaves during early winter 2006, due to the hard water in the humidification system. The humidification has since been turned off, until it can be updated, so hopefully the appearance of this and other affected plants will start to improve again.
