Musa sikkimensis

This is my second Musa sikkimensis. The first I purchased in July 2005 and kept in my heated polytunnel through the 2005/2006 winter. It gradually declined possibly because it was well beyond need of re-potting. I re-potted it in spring and moved it outside, but it didn't recover. I then purchased this replacement, which arrived in May/June 2006 as a two leaf seedling. It is extremely over potted, which is a reaction to the problem with the previous one and I wasn't sure if it would become established enough to make it through the winter in such a large pot. Fortunately we had our warmest summer ever, which allowed for good growth and this has been followed by one of the mildest winters on record. By February, whilst looking rather sorry for itself, the pseudostem is still standing and feels quite firm, so hopefully the warmer spring weather will initiate some new growth.
