There has been conitnued steady growth for the Phoenix dactylifera throughout the summer months and space is becoming increasingly limited. Whilst it will have to stay in the polytunnel until next year now, it will probably have to move to a shadier position, where there is a little more space for vertical growth. This shouldn't prove to be a problem, as there will still be sufficient light for it to stay healthy. I have reduced feeding from every 7-10 days to every 10-14 days, but it is still being watered as regularly. I will leave it in it's current location for as long as possible and probably move it some time in Autumn.
