Due to the exceptionally cool and wet summer, by recent standards at least, the growth for both of the Phoenix canariensis is slower than I would have hoped. The fronds that started to die back after re-potting in April are still very prominent, but the new growth is healthy and green and is gradually giving the plants a better appearance. Watering is proving to be almost totally unnecessary with the volume of rain we've been having, but a soluble fertilizer is still being applied every 10-14 days. A warmer end to summer and a mild autumn would certainly be helpful, so that the plants can be well re-established before winter, but I don't envisage any problems either way.
