Lytocaryum weddellianum

The Lytocaryum weddellianum continues with steady growth throughout the summer months, blissfully unaware of the awful summer outside of the polytunnel. Having experimented with leaving the lid off of the germination box for longer periods, some of the other species looked a little worse for wear, so while the Lytocaryum was unaffected, I have stopped this for now, until all of the plants are a little larger. There is no real urgency in terms of space restriction, as most things in the box are still quite small and growing at a modest pace. Otherwise the only change is to reduce fertilizing from every 7-10 days to every 10-14 days. This was only to avoid excessive salt build up in the pots, as the plants in the box particularly, don't see any other added moisture, apart from when the fertilizer is applied. I am still only applying the feed via a foliar spray at the moment and will probably continue with that approach for each of the plants in the box, until they are removed. I may start applying an intermediate spray of just water between fertilizer applications, to avoid the issue of salts, although I suspect with the small amount they are receiving, it won't pose a problem. Still no sign of further germination from the other seeds in the pot, but all the while this one is healthy, I am not too concerned.
