I potted up 12 Lytocaryum weddellianum seeds on 15/10/2006 six each into two 150mm/6" pots, using a mixture of perlite, coir and composed bark chips with normal potting compost. The pots were watered then covered in cling film and put inside a plastic bag to retain moisture and kept inside my heated polytunnel. During December the pots were moved to a cooler, shadier location in conjunction with some other things that needed to be moved around. Since then the first Lytocaryum seed sprouted in January, which surprised me due to the reduced temperature. There have been no subsequent seeds sprout yet, I'm not sure if this is because the temperatures need to be higher or maybe the seeds just need longer. I'm hopeful that I may see a few more germinate, if I can keep the temperatures at an appropriate level and avoid any rotting. The current seedling is quite slow, but has nearly finished it's second leaf.
