Jubaea chilensis

After surviving a week without water, while I was away, the Jubaea chilensis looked worse than ever and I was very pleased when my new pots arrived, hopefully the cure to the Jubaea's problems. I re-potted it on the third weekend of April and moved it out of the polytunnel at the same time. That may or may not prove to have been a good idea, but I thought rather than shock the plant twice, I would do everything now, as it would have had to move outside some time this year anyway. The weather outside will certainly not be any problem for the Jubaea, but the sudden change may be. On the plus side the roots look very strong and having used a loose, airy potting mix they have been given the ideal opportunity to re-establish into the new pot, although we will need a more prolonged period of warm weather for any substantial root growth. I have positioned the Jubaea beneath two lager palms and, whilst it is a little more shaded than the Jubaea may like, it will also provide some protection from the elements.
