The Jubaea X Butia coped well with a week without water while I was away, despite being in a pot that was too small with very compressed potting mix, which was prone to drying out very quickly. I took advantage of the warm weather to re-pot this palm and to move it outside. It's a little early in the year for such action in the UK, as there will still be plenty of cooler weather before summer arrives, but there just wasn't sufficient space in the polytunnel to delay any longer and the re-potting was very overdue. There will probably be repurcussions from taking this action so early, but these hybrids are more than tough enough to cope. I have used the same loose, airy mix that I used with the other outside palms re-potted this month, which should allow the roots to develop aggresively, once there is consistantly warm weather.
