Heterospathe scitula

The Heterospathe scitula continue to grow steadily through the summer unaffected by the dismal weather outside. I have gone back to only removing the lid of the germination box for short periods, due to an adverse reaction with some of the plants in the box. This won't pose an immediate problem, as the plants inside are growing slowly enough to remain inside for many months yet. I will try acclimatization again when everything is a little larger and hopefully more able to cope with the change of environment. The only other change has been a reduction in feeding from every 7-10 days to every 10-14 days. This is partly due to a concern of excessive salt build up in the pots and partly due to excessive moisture in the germination box. Feeding is still only by means of a weak foliar spray, but there is little opportunity for moisture to escape and it gets added to each time I spray. Hopefully lengthening the gap between spraying will be sufficient for the moisture levels to stabilize.
