I potted up 12 Heterospathe scitula seeds on 02/10/2006 into 5cm/2" root trainer bands, using a mixture of perlite, coir and composted bark chips with normal potting compost. They were treated the same as most of the other seeds I started around that time, i.e. in plastic storage containers inside my heated polytunnel. By December four had sprouted and even the first leaves emerged a nice bronze colour. Whilst they have continued to grow, the most advanced becoming a three leaf seedling by March 2007, the newer leaves are not opening fully and they are burning a little on the tips. It may be a question of too much light, but I will monitor progress for a little longer before moving any of them.
