The Geonoma schottiana continued with steady growth during May. Although this is a fairly small species when mature, I had expected it to be a little quicker than this, but it seems happy and healthy enough, so I am not unduely concerned. There are still no signs of germination from the other Geonoma schottiana pots, but temperatures have not really increased greatly yet, so maybe in the next month or two things will start to happen. This Geonoma has responded well to exteneded periods with the germination box lid removed with no obvious ill effects. Being an understorey, forest species, they are usually in a fairly humid environment, especially as they often grow near water, so it is encouraging to see it cope well with lower humidity, especially at this size.
