Dypsis heteromorpha

There has been continued growth for both of the Dypsis heteromorpha during May. The healthy stem has been growing normally, but the stem with the browning fronds has a leaf that is opening early. This is common behaviour among palms that have damaged or removed foliage and is an attempt to increase their ability to photosynthesize. Since this is not happening with the healthier stem, I can only assume that it is photosyntheszing sufficiently despite the calcium deposits on the older leaves. There haven't been any other major changes, although I did add a little coir to the potting mix in an attempt to rejuvenate it slightly. This is only a stop gap measure, but I didn't want to take more drastic action while the plants are still growing, especially while one of the stems is a little stressed.
