The browning of the fronds of the Dypsis heteromorpha that I mentioned in March has become more apparent in April. It is only one of the two planted in this pot that I had attempted to remove the calcium deposits, so the other plant, despite still having the deposits looks fine otherwise. As a result the affected palm has slowed it's growth a little this month, I imagine due to less ability to photosynthesize. Having moved things about in April the Dypsis heteromorpha are slightly more shaded anyway, which obviously won't help with photosynthesis, but the plants providing the shade now, whilst more dense, are not as tall and the Dypsis heteromorpha will actually be receiving more light once they have achieved a little more growth. There is nothing else to report, no changes to feeding, watering, etc. and despite my concerns about the state of the potting mix, these palms don't seem particularly bothered. I do still intend to make some attempt to improve the potting medium some time this year though.
