This is my second attempt with Dypsis albofarinosa. My first plant arrived bare rooted and didn't recover from the journey, so when this plant arrived in August, also bare rooted, I was a little apprehensive. This plant had the advantage of being slightly larger, a four leaf seedling, whereas the previous plant was a two leaf seedling. After a little leaf burn from the shock or transportation, etc. the plant seems to have settled down and is growing steadily. I have deliberately over potted it slightly to allow plenty of recovery time before it next needs re-potting. I'm hoping that it will put on some good growth in my polytunnel through summer 2007. If and when it starts to clump, I may separate a stem or two and try one of the resulting plants outside, when it reaches a reasonable size, although it will almost definitely require protection during colder winter nights.
