Chamaedorea microspadix

I purchased seeds of four different Chamaedorea species in June 2006. I received 12 microspadix seeds and potted them all together in a 150mm (6") pot using a mixture of coir, sand and potting compost. The pot was watered then wrapped with cling film and left in my polytunnel with ambient temperatures of 22-32°C (72-90°F). By September five had sprouted. Although one has since died the others are all growing steadily with the most advanced just producing it's third leaf in March 2007. Unfortunately these were one of the many species that suffered from calcium deposits on the leaves, caused by my fogging system, but the damage appears to be purely cosmetic and hopefully by the end of the year any traces of this will be gone. These are probably overdue separation into individual pots, but I have left it for the time being, not wanting to disturb any of the other seeds that may be in some stage of germination. I will probably want three to four plants together in a larger pot anyway, so that they form a more dense cluster more rapidly, so if none of the other seeds germinate, it will just be a question of re-potting the existing plants together.
