The Cycas taitungensis leaves from the flush in April were nearly fully developed by the end of May and the plant looks a lot better for having a few more leaves. It will be a long time before this cycad has a decent, full crown, after having lost so many leaves, but it's looks should improve with each new flush. The new location is still not ideal, as there is still insufficient space really, but it will have to suffice for the time being, as I am not prepared to move this plant outside until it has at least 300mm/12" of trunk and a healthy crown. This species is extremely marginal here and it really needs to be in very good health before going outside. Whilst the number of new flushes will decrease with the lower temperature and light levels of the new location, I am still hopeful that I will see relatively fast growth, as this species is usually one of the fastest cycads.
