Cycas panzhihuaensis

As mentioned in previous months, I have been watering this Cycas panzhihuaensis every 1-2 days, because being in 100% perlite the moisture retention is not very good, so I was a little concerned about how this plant would cope when I was away for a week early in April with no means of watering it. On my return I found that my concerns were unjustified as the plant still looked happy and had started to push up a new leaf. As with most cycads, this species is quite drought tolerant, but the perlite was pretty much totally absent of moisture and being very small, I was surprised that the caudex, which is still subterranean, was able to store sufficient moisture. Little else has changed this month, although having moved some other plants that were previously near to this one, it is probably exposed to a little more light now.
